Worlds first 3D sensor of mobile devices.

Something that we at VisionSmiths have been keeping a close eye on over the last 12 months is the development of 3D sensing hardware designed to be used with mobile devices.

Prime Sense, the company that produced the 3D sensor for the original Kinect unveiled plans earlier this year for their new smaller, cheaper “Capri” sensor that is designed to be embedded in mobile devices. However it seems the first company to actually get a device to market is going to be a software partner of Prime Sense, US based Occipital, with their Structure sensor.  Occipital have launched a kickstarter campaign for their device that has received funding way above their target so we look forward to seeing their sensors adorning iPads in the new year!

Check out the Video above and the link to their KickStarter campaign is here.
